The article presents a reflection on the concept of «mimesis» in anthropological studies ofurban youth. The author introduces this concept in current academic debates about identity,globalization and the development of mass-media technologies. He also examines newforms of identity around fashion, electronic music and drugs –synthetic or not—. Theconcept of «mimesis» is useful in the study of reproduction of corporal habitusthroughimitation and re-signification. This text forms part of a research project on raveculture inBogotá, Colombia.
