Abstract:

Luis Guillermo Vasco was one of the first graduates in Anthropology at the NationalUniversity of Colombia in the early 1970s. He was then Professor at this University until hisretirement in 2003. What is his legacy after three decades of research and teaching? This paperproposes that his legacy can be thought of as «ethnography as social relation», which cansurvive the current postmodern attack that pretends to find its identity in contrast to «classicalethnography»

Kaywords: Ethnography, postmodern anthropology, Colombian indigenous people.
