Abstract:

This paper performs an exercise of analysis of the work category from the profession approach, that have been configured with the emergence of the so-called society’s self-care, particularly social work (a setting different from manufacture). It poses a historic tracing on how the social issue gave rise to an emergence of trades and professions in Europe, while in Latin America it emerged within the framework of the relationship between the development paradigm that was applied on Southern countries, and from it a particular proposal to address the social issue raised. Thus, varied professions converged, which derived in a specific form of work, known as work upon others. That is the context to think about the implications of working on the social issue among shifts in today’s work worlds.
