Abstract:

Conflicts persist in social factors that motivate the ways in which society changes. They ariseout of the development of incompatible actions and differing sensations; they respond toan emotional condition that produces tensions and frustrations; they correspond to thedifference in conducts and social, family or personal interaction. In Colombia, as in allsocieties in general, conflict is inevitably linked to the human condition; nevertheless, realityhas shown that forms of living together are increasingly more complex. The problematic hasoutgrown the capacity of response and management of the traditional mechanisms formanaging conflict. Therefore, it is necessary to engage with conflicts from a positive perspective as a learning opportunity; as an intellectual and emotional challenge that reflects positiveexperiences and turns into a development motor that allows us to assume and to face acontinuous process of construction and reconstruction of the social fabric from theories ofnon-violence. This article wants to be a reference of intervention in a conflict resolutionprocess that goes from the management of characteristics, components, types, levels andeffects of conflict to the conflictive personalities, and that promotes the development ofstrategies for conflict resolution through alternative forms of negotiation, mediation, conciliation and arbitration, allowing the actors involved to be agents of change.
